About North Brixton Big Local

Since the beginning, we’ve focused on connecting with residents, listening to their needs, and building strong relationships within our community. Over the years, we’ve grown, and so have our projects. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve achieved:
  • Strengthened ties with residents and local groups.
  • Supported organisations to work together on shared challenges.
  • Launched networks to reduce violence and create safer spaces.
  • Hosted job fairs, created job opportunities, and connected people with training.
  • Secured and improved community spaces for long-term use.
  • Developed green space projects to improve our local environment.
  • Increased community engagement, building a stronger and more connected neighbourhood.
While we started with small steps, we’ve learned that thinking bigger brings lasting change. We’ve moved from small grants to investing in sustainable initiatives that serve the wider community.

How We Work

Everything we do is community-driven. We believe that the people who live here know what’s best for North Brixton. By listening, collaborating, and acting on local ideas, we’re empowering residents to lead change.

Here’s how we work:

  • Community-Led Decision Making: Our partnership board, made up of local residents, makes decisions on funding and projects based on community input.
  • Collaboration: We bring together individuals, local organisations, and resources to tackle key challenges and unlock opportunities.
  • Empowerment: By developing new skills and confidence, residents can take the lead on initiatives that make a real difference.

"Going to south end was the best part of my summer holiday! I havnt been to the sea in AGEAS and it was such a hoy say that I felt so good to cool down in the water. The trip was right before we went back to school, so it was great to take these memories into the classroom with me as start studying again. Thank you!"
