To celebrate the success of our research programme ‘Cooling Fiveways’, our project partner Lambeth Council held our closing event to champion the work of our partners, explore key findings and network to foster further collaboration, Big Local North Brixton funded the Impact on Urban Health.
The project, running through what’s expected to be London’s hottest summer on record, collaborated with Lambeth’s voluntary charity sector to deliver on-the-ground research to help our most vulnerable residents combat summer heat.
The work captured residents’ experiences of the recent heat waves, tested key messages around health vulnerabilities, and trailed simple, low-cost cool kits to help keep our residents safe and comfortable.
We utilised Lambeth’s Community Engagement Toolkit and embedded community leaders to create a research programme with community voices at its centre. Focusing on Angell Town and Loughborough Junction, we hope the insights gathered will inform effective mitigation and adaptation measures for the most vulnerable communities across Lambeth and London.
We celebrated what can be achieved by working collaboratively with the community, for the community.
