North Brixton: Beating the heat together

North Brixton is getting hotter each summer, often more than other parts of Lambeth or London, and much more than outer London boroughs with more green space.

This year, local organisations are working with North Brixton Big Local to launch the Cooling5Ways project. Our aim is to help you keep your home cool and your family, friends, and neighbours safe.

Who is most at risk?

Anyone can become unwell in extreme heat, but some people are at higher risk, including:

  • People over 65 (risk increases with age).
  • Children under five and pregnant women.
  • People with health conditions such as heart or breathing problems, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease, Parkinson’s, or mobility issues.
